Reproduction: The Emerald Spotted Tree Frog breeds in the warmer months of the year from August through to March. The first laying of the season is by far the largest and can produce up to 1000 eggs. Seasonal rain triggers the breeding season but once started rain has little to do with when they breed. They deposit a small number of eggs in clear jelly that sticks to weed or rocks in the water, then move on to deposit more elsewhere. The males are territorial usually with one male calling per pond. They will defend the same pond nightly and should another male encroach on their territory a verbal war will ensue. The more vocal frog will be the victor.
