Reproduction: These frogs breed from October to February. They seem to like the warmer weather and they don't care if there has been no rain as long as there is a decent pond, however rain showers will start them calling day and night. In the pond, both the males and females like to sit on lily pads or water reeds. The males will position themselves about six inches or so above the water, turn sideways on the stems and call madly. It is thought that maybe this position makes their call travel further, but maybe they just like it.
The eggs are approximately 1mm in size and are laid in clear jelly clumps about the size of a twenty cent piece. The clumps are deposited in various locations in the pond as the amplexed frogs move about. Eastern Sedge Frog tadpoles can take from ten to sixteen weeks to metamorph depending on weather conditions
