Habitat: Being ground dwelling frogs, they do not have toe pads or discs for climbing, but have long slender toes for digging in the ground. This means that their pond has to be set into the ground, or if elevated slightly, some form of ramp must be supplied to allow access to and from the water. Ground frogs need to move around to feed, so the more cover there is the safer they will be. An ideal area would have a thick layer of mulch made up from compost and mulched leaves. This keeps the ground cool for the frogs, and they dig in it for slaters, cockroaches and other insects that live in moist composty places.
